Being careful with external visuals

Sometimes the default set of tools won’t do the trick. In Power BI Desktop there’s a marketplace which can be accessed by clicking “Get More Visuals”.

There are a handful of great external tools which all have their benefits and use cases that make sense for when to utilize them. Just be careful whenever using third party visuals. You’ll be relying on the continued support from the third party. Plus Microsoft continues to make edits to PowerBI all the time and will test the built in toolkits but none of the external stuff so the potential that something breaks out of the blue is there.

I’m not a fan of using these 3rd party visuals. In the rare case that I have to – I make sure it’s from a reputable developer who has contact information and preferably a social presence.
