Focusing on the right 20%

If you haven’t heard of the Pareto Principle, it’s also referred to as the 80/20 rule. 20% of the work produces 80% of the results.

If that is true, and I believe it is – how do we focus on the right 20%?

I recently read that on average businesses don’t analyze 73% of the data they collect. If you’re only able to analyze 27% of the data you collect, you better be utilizing the right 20%.

A good way to ensure you get the right 20% – focus on your business outcomes before pulling in all the data. Understand what your organizational goals are and collect and analyze the data that is directly tied to these efforts.
